Believe it or not, we still understand the meaning of that word, and we have committed ourselves to making that our key differentiating factor! Your business isn’t trucks…you just need them to operate. We get it, and we are committed to providing you the level of service it takes to allow you to concentrate on your business while we concentrate on ours….keeping your truck(s) moving! River's Truck HistoryOriginally owned by Richard and Carolyn Krout, W. Bradley and Marcindie A. McKinsey purchased River's Garage as a sole propietorship from Carolyn in January of 1976. Mrs. Krout and her husband, "River", operated River's Garage as a general repair facility; however, when the McKinseys purchased the company, Brad quickly narrowed its focus to heavy-duty trucks. As a result, River's has been serving the South Central Pennsylvania area for a variety of its trucking needs since 1976. Starting as a small repair shop with two employees, River's has expanded to over 60 employees with varying responsibilities in the following departments: truck shop, body shop, trailer shop, truck sales, parts, frame and alignment, and accounting. Due to significant growth of the company, the McKinsey's incorporated River's Garage in 1986. In 1988, the company moved from 462 East Market Avenue in Dallastown to its current location at 2975 Cape Horn Road in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. Since its relocation, the company has expanded three times (1991, 1997, and 2001) due to growth in its various departments. In 1990, River's acquired a Mitsubishi Fuso Truck franchise. The Mitsubishi franchise allowed the company to begin expanding its truck sales beyond that of used trucks. The franchise also provided River's with the opportunity to stock and sell Mitsubishi Fuso parts. River's experienced major changes in 1998 with a newly completed addition, a new name, and a new franchise. In June 1998, the organization's name was officially changed to River's Truck Center, Inc. in order to better represent the company's stature. The acquisition of a Western Star Truck franchise in 1998 provided River's with the opportunity to expand even further. Once an organization acquires a Class 8 truck franchise like Western Star, they become eligible to purchase engine franchises. River's Truck Center, Inc. took advantage of this opportunity to expand its parts and service departments and purchased franchises from CAT, Cummins, and Detroit Diesel. These franchises allow River's to sell their parts and to provide service and warranty work for their engines. As one can see, River's has equipped itself with products, services, and employees to meet all of its consumers' needs. River's brought in the year 2001 with an exciting addition to its available franchises. The acquisition of a Sterling Truck franchise makes a markable impact on River's ability to provide products and services to a broader spectrum of consumers within its market. Then River's rounded out the year 2001 with the addition of a 23,000 square foot building to house its new frame and alignment shop. River's is very excited about the investment we have made in the frame and alignment shop. It is another step made in our efforts to provide consumers with a "one-stop-shop" for all of their trucking needs." Brad McKinsey - Dealer PrincipalWe are proud to say that Brad began his career as a diesel technician and truck driver. When he originally purchased River’s in 1976, he worked his nights as a technician for Mason Dixon and days were spent doing the same at River’s. Having grown this company from that perspective, our commitment to service stems from his core belief that forming relationships through the service side of the business is of the utmost importance. As Dealer Principal and General Manager, Brad oversees the daily operations of our business, but when you catch him out on a tow job or delivering a truck to a customer, don’t think something is wrong because that’s an every day occurrence and what he loves to do. Bill McHugh - Service ManagerWith 30 years of employment at River’s Truck Center, Bill has an entire career of experience to offer you. Bill began his days here at River’s as an entry-level technician straight out of high school. Advancing through experience, training and dedication, Bill has been our Service Manager for ten years. He is supported by a very impressive team that includes two Shop Foremen, a Warranty Administrator, a Service Assistant, and ten Technicians. Seven of the fifteen members of his team have been with our company for 10 or more years! Mike Calaman - Frame and Body Shop ManagerMike can say something no one else here at River’s can say…he had a whole building built for him! When Mike and some of his team committed to joining us in 2001, we welcomed them with a brand new state-of-the-art frame and alignment shop. With 30 years of expertise in the business, Mike has become a very valuable asset to our team and his departments have helped us to provide you with a more complete package of specialized services for your trucking needs. Mike is supported by a talented team of individuals that includes a Service Assistant, a Body Shop Foreman, six Body Shop Technicians, and five Frame and Alignment Technicians. Chris Rohrbaugh - Parts ManagerWith nearly 20 years working for our company, Chris has been instrumental in the development of our parts department! His hard work and go-getter attitude have led to the development of a team that we are extremely proud to call our own! With his leadership, Chris’s team of 16, including a Parts Assistant, seven (7) Counter Salesmen, three (3) Outside Salesmen, and five(5) Parts Delivery Drivers, have been acknowledged by our OEM’s for their sales efforts on various occasions and continue to meet and exceed the goals established for their department. Richard Brooks - Trucks Sales ManagerGraduating from Covenant College in 1979 and continuing his graduate studies in business at the University of Tennessee, Richard quickly established his expertise in the field of sales. He joined our team in 1997 as we took on the venture of a Class 8 Franchise with Western Star and has been influential in the continued development of our Sales Department. Judd McKinsey - Trailer Shop Manager/Wrecker OperatorWell, Judd will be 30 years old next year and we’d been honest in saying that he has just about that many years of experience around trucks and River’s! Growing up under his “old man’s” wing, Judd was driving a truck around here at ten years old and has never looked back. Currently, he is overseeing the operations of the Trailer Shop where he works alongside two fellow co-workers who specialize in the repairs and fabrications necessary for trailers and truck bodies. Judd has also received certification for wrecking and teams with our other certified wrecker operator, Brad Bemisderfer, as the two primary employees providing wrecker services to our customers. |
